Community Support and Events
The Tamworth Cancer Support Group, run by Paula and a team of volunteers (many with personal experience of medical journeys), offers a welcoming, supportive environment for individuals and families affected by chronic medical conditions, including cancer and undiagnosed illnesses.
The centre provides a range of facilities and support, addressing gaps between diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment, and is open to anyone regardless of postcode, with visitors from Staffordshire, surrounding counties, and even Wales.
Services include emotional support, information on specific conditions, social interaction, holistic therapies (foot care, Reiki, massage), and practical help such as wig fittings, headwear, and post-surgery items (cushions, drain covers, PICC line covers)
Support extends to family members, recognising their often-overlooked needs during medical journeys.
The centre hosts regular groups: chronic pain support, evening support groups for working individuals, craft days, knit and natter, singing for health, seated yoga/exercise, meditation, and community projects.
The atmosphere is described as vibrant, positive, and family-oriented, with testimonials highlighting the uplifting impact and sense of belonging.
The group actively participates in local events and awareness campaigns and encourages spreading the word about thier services. Contact details and activity schedules are available on thier website, Facebook, and through Support Staffordshire.
